XP Antivirus Remover 1.0: The Hoax Is On The User?
Here is part two of my review. I decided to break my review into due to being informed by topwareshare's pop-up window of the 3,000 character limit. After along time trying to shorten my review I decided to submit it in two parts. :)
So here is the continuation:
OH MY ... I FORGOT TO SAY THANKS FOR THE CHANCE TO REVIEW THIS PRODUCT. Thank you.
Readers, here is the 2nd installment of my review:
PART TWO:
Maybe this is what they meant by messing with the computer and I shudder
to think of what those clone files were capable of.
And now the icing on the cake...
When I tried to uninstall the program, I was hit in the face with a
"WARNING!" that uninstalling it may delete settings and data
directories, and that I should "please" backup the data stored in
subdirectories of the progam.
But the deletions would only apply to the program. They would not hurt the
computer. Could it be that they wanted to keep something or some things
alive (i.e. possibly ... viruses or spyware)? Or was something so planted
into the system that removing it would tear at a deep level ... root kit?
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not accusing anyone. Maybe this is all a
coincidence. Or maybe ...
Anyway, if you have the program installed or after you install it, check
for the five clone folders mentioned above. They were named "0985D9HL",
"09875RST", "09876J7Q", "09877L11", AND "09879HCA". Follow the pathway
or use Search.
If you decide to uninstall it and remove it completely, don't forget to
get rid of the clutter left behind by deleting the folder(s) located at
C:\Program Files\ConsumerSoft\XP Antivirus Remover, deleting the setup
file and folder(s), and deleting the five clone folders.
Also, the information for the registry keys and registry values is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ShellNoRoam\MUICache\--C:\(where you
have the download is listed here)\Install XP Antivirus Remover.exe
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ShellNoRoam\MUICache\--C:\Program
Files\ConsumerSoft\XPAntivirus Remover\XPAVRemover.exe
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ShellNoRoam\MUICache\--C:\Program
Files\ConsumerSoft\XPAntivirus Remover\Uninstall.exe
If you want those out of the way as well ... Start > Run > type Regedit
> OK or press Enter.
Important note: Be careful deleting the registry. One wrong bleep! and ...
your bytes may not be super anymore.
Rating the product: One point instead of a perfect zero.
