video editing problems
THis program, like so many others, seems to suck massivley. Here's an example. WHen I use the "genius" video capture aspect of the program it works fine. WHen I plug in the captured video into the main pallet it looks fine. BUt when I plug it into the timeline it becomes grainy and illegiable if it's a screencapture of a website.
SHouldn't this be straightforward? I have wasted way to much time on trying to finagle this program into working properly, with very little success. AVS. You suck.

AVS
I'm fairly certain most reviews out there saying this is good came from the company itself. It's certainly not the first time someone has done it. I don't hate this program though. For beginners looking for an easy to use video editor this is great! It lacks some features that advanced users would use but if you're just making AMVs or something for a school project this program is a really nice step up from Windows Movie Maker. It's simple and easy to use.

review
Pros-a lot of effects and transitions, simple set out, intresting effects,
it is also good as you can change the contrast, light, saturatiobs etc
effects you can use: newspaper print, postersize, sketch and a lot more
cons-can't think of any

slow performance
Everthing is here and it is easy to work with, but it is EXTREMELY SLOW. It took 5 hours to import an 100 minute long HD video, and 35 hours to created the AVI file. Then it will take another 5 hours to open it with the editor again, then I can burn it to DVD.

Excellent amateur solution
The choice of input and output formats is great as is the overall intuitive handling. I''m surprised that some of you could not find support, there is plenty of it on the web site. For the very novice, well why not start by youtube tutorials on video editing?
I have done a project of 7 mn from 10 hours of rushes all loaded in the app and although I''ve probably streched my processor to the max, the result was very clean.

Is it worth it and is there still a 28 clip limit?
I have downloaded 4.2.1.166 and tried it; however, I am apprehensive to 'buy' it if htere continue to be unlock code and clip limitations - any updates to comments that indicate negatives of the program?

IS it worth it?
I might be buying this... I've download the trial version and I like it.... but some of the reviews aren't so good... just wondering if it's a good program or not...

???
Does anyone know of a better free system for PC other than MovieMaker? B/c we are shooting a major project but if AVS has so many limitations then it wouldn't be wise for us to do it.
Other systems? (free)
Review on THAT system is appreciated too.

Still looking - but
Have Pany SD1, AVCHD, and looking at Samsung HMX-H106 - H.264, Does it edit H.264 or do you have to do a conversion?
Comment for Pete, you could do in sections and then combine the sections.
ie. do the first say 20 clips as Chapter 1 etc etc. then do a new project with the input clips being Chapter 1 , Chapter 2 etc.

I have a registered version and I have also hit the limit of 28 video segments that can be added to the storyboard.
This program is a delight to use and has many powerful features. Unfortunately it also has major limitations and I would suggest looking further afield before starting work on a major project.

Need to know before buying
If any one who has the AVS Video Editor 3.5 please let me know something. I am making a video that uses lots of cut videos and when I go to add more it tells me "you have exceeded the number of videos that can be compiled." If you have the registered version may you tell me if you can add more of those boxes down their on the reel? So far I have counted the boxes and there is only 29. I want more. If anyone knows email me at "
[email protected]" Thanks
