Grindtastic space mmo
I''ve played the game for about 2 months now. The game play and graphics are very simplistic, as stated before a budget eVe online. The actual program leaves much to be desired with servers constantly going down for maintenance. I have a custom computer with an asus n4l-vm dh motherboard Intel? Core? Duo processor and 2 gigs of ram and am running windows xp and it crashes every time I set up a colony or sometimes when I pull into port of land on a colony, which is very frustrating. I''ve seen even veteran player''s ships freeze up in combat, or get stuck in walls and such. Game play is smooth. As stated before a very simplistic 2d shooter game that has a feel to it like Galaga almost.
The game has a small community that is constantly changing save for a few "veteran" players that are very standoffish and rude. I got cursed out after invading a colony once by a vet and didn''t much care for that. I don''t like the whole beefing-over-a-video-game thing, and this game does make you very competitive against other players.
If anything, the two things that I hate about the game are the warp fuel system, which requires you to spend actual money to purchase in order to move your ship around, and the way the game mechanics are nerfed in favor of the pirates and nukes which once again you can buy with real money from star bases throughout the game. It seems that the strategy that works the best in combat is to close in and hose your opponent with nukes. Also nukes give you an unfair advantage in taking colonies.
There are two different sides that you can essentially take when playing the game, you can play as a pirate and raid colonies and kill other players or play as a commissioned officer and build colonies and kill pirates. If you are wise you are a pirate/invader cause building sucks. It''s a whole lot of grind, and colonies can be taken rather easily. I was in a corp that was in the top 50 then got wiped in one night by a pirate using nukes.
All in all I would say that if you like to grind and don''t care about graphics or occasionally dropping $10 bucks then this is the game for you. But if you are seriously into that sort of thing why not just open a WoW account?

Best Game Out There
Starport Galactic Empires is the best online space game out there. Its my favorite pastime (a large amount of school study time has gone towards this), and the best part is that it's FREE! You get to trade valuable recources around the galaxy for money, fight other computer ships as well as real players! You can also build a massive empire to get the most experience you can get (Think of experience as your in-game score), or you can make your living as a pirate by raiding other people's colonies. The galaxies are so big that there is always something to do. While it is a smaller gamer community, the people there are the best and will always help you out when you need it. Good job Toonces. 5 stars!

Crappy.
Very good game, and anyone with common sense can make it better, Toonces, the admin is an idiot and bans people for no reason. A few days ago I got banned for hacking, and I didn't hack, my friend from canada got banned for multi accounting with ME when I live in a different country!

This game sucks.
You can be playing this game for years and years and still have to re-start from 0 more then once. The creator of this game is having fun randomly banning people and losing most of his "clients" as there's about 100 people left playing this whole game.

Excellent!
Good job Playtechtonics Inc., creator of Starport Galactic empires. You did a very good job with the game. It is my favorite game to play, and I never get tired of it. You can build and invade colonies, trade, explore the galaxies, and fight other players, which makes this the best free online mmo ever. Thankyou.

This game is great
This game is really fun. I have been playing it for a while and there are so many things you can do that is doesn't get boring quick like some other games do. It is a free game with the option of buying admiral tokens ( with real world money ) to help you gain an edge over the other competitors. I haven't bought any admiral tokens and I still enjoy this game though.
Pros: good fighting action massive galaxies colonizable planets fun trades
Cons: decent graphics not great ones possibility of losing something you spent a lot of time working on warp fuel meter can be annoying at times
P.S. If you are stuck on something in the game just ask one of the other game players. they were very helpful when I first started playing this game.

If you buy the extras you can do stuff but don't
Starport Ge is a good game but is ruined with all those overpowered people. the major flaw is the colonies. It gives you 3 days to build your base but after that your on your own. Eventually your base is takin over by the most powerful corperations and in the end all you do is start all over again. The fighting aspect of the game is ok but in the end if you don't buy the stuff that starport offers you at the admirals club your not going to get real far in the game. Starport gets only 2 stars from me

If you like doing the same thing over and over, play this.
Starport: Galactic Empires is the worst game ever created. I played for almost 2 years, and the game became more like a second job then being fun. Cleaning and putting up with assholes taking your colonies is all you do.
After years of creating a galactic empire, I had hundreds of thousands of followers... Then a dickhead comes along and decides to take my colonies because he knows I can't fight well... I was merely a builder.

If you consider "work" fun, play this.
Don't wast your time. Good game in concept, but elite players/cheaters ruin it for EVERYONE. New servers are started all the time, but these players kill it off within a few weeks. The admins have no answer for this. Any comments about the game not being fair are absolutely true. I played this for about a year and did very well with it, but got tired of the idiots who killed vets like myself and newbies alike. The game became more like work than a game!

All About The Cash
Don't Bother, this game is all about the cash. They do not enforce any form of fair play, the mechanics are designed so that you always have to buy more credits(using cash) and there are videos on how to hack this game on youtube.
All in all, not free, don't bother.

This game sucks
This game is lame.. you can play it for 3 years and still have nothing to show for all your work. Toonces will randomly take admiral tokens ( money ) away from you at any time as well as experience. I haven't seen one good update from Toonces since I've played the game.

A little more information
Ive played starport off and on for 2 years now. It is a pretty good game, it goes through its ups and downs but if your lucky enough to get there during one of its good periods you will be very satisfied. Starport has the unique ability of controlling your player during combat instead of the usual automated combat where the player with the highest level and best equipment wins.
When you first start out it will be pretty tough, because of this a lot of players quit soon after joining. But it will usually get easier after a while. When you first start out you should search around for an older but still active server. A lot of people starting out get caught in the rush of a new server bang where even the best players will be cut down repeatedly.
It is constantly being updated and patched and as a result there have become a lot of bugs and in some cases the developers will release a radical change. However most bugs aren't that bad and the serious ones are usually fixed immediately. The radical changes often drive older players away but after a while even the oldest of players will get used to them and learn to adjust the way they play. Occasionally this is a good thing as it keeps us on our toes, and prevents new challenges.
Overall I think this game is pretty good and deserves a little more prestige than it currently gets. I will probably continue to play for a long time to come.
