How can I donate to project
Wow, totally blown away by this. Have uninstalled all those other useless searches, exported all my documents and emails into text files and concatenated them all into 1 big file. Now all I ever have to do is start this app, ctrl-alt-del, start it again , enter sarcasm.txt at prompt #1, ff2 at prompt #2 , smoke some dope and I'm one with the universe and the knowledge of life is all found by this app. Please, set up a Paypal account so I can donate 90% of my salary to further this app for the benefit all man kind. All hail SpectateSwamp, the god of desktop search.

This thing still online?
Ya know what's worst? Some day some familymember is gonna walk into this crap on some site (it has been spammed all over the net!) and download this stuff. And then they'll give us a call (you know, the 'channel 9 geeks') and tell us to come and fix their 'stupid computer'...
Please! Make the hurt stop! Make it go away!

WTF
You say you have challenged people on channel 9 and TDWTF, but in reality, you were challenged and ignored and refused the challenges. Because you know you would lose, because this is not a desktop search.

This is hilarious
Dude; no we aren't "just" some geeks from channel9. We know what we're talking about.
This application is a joke! It does nothing but error out on just about anything I try to do; if you watch the 'title bar' closely you will notice all sorts of error's being "suppressed".
"Input past end of line", "resume without error", etc. etc. There is absolutely no help to be found anywhere; the files created in "it's own search directory" contain bogus (and unstructured) data, keeps crashing and I couldn't get it to run and actually doing something even after trying for half an hour (just for the heck of it).
The "author" (excuse me everyone, I meant to say the lame excuse for a wannabee programmer) of this application has no idea of GUI's, functioning applications, user-friendlyness or other "post Y2k" concepts of software whatsoever. He didn't even take the time to change the default Visual Basic icon of the application.
@SpectateSwamp: The world is wrong, you are right! Keep up the good work! Just stop bothering us with it!

...
I think Jon means searching through files, not searching IN a file.

Complete waste of time
Absolutely worthless application.
This is a Visual Basic application, without a standard GUI interface, that requires you to understand a host of keyboard commands. It fails to work on first installation, and only works on second attempt - as acknowledged by the author. This is a buggy, behind the times, application. Might work for the author, but is useless for the rest of us.
He promotes this as if it is the second coming of Christ.
AVOID AVOID AVOID at all costs!!!

Search is what this program does
Hi Jon
to search my inmail.txt file (I have them all back to 1996)
at prompt #1 enter "inmail.txt"
at prompt #2 enter "C" for full context display or "S" for matching lines display
at prompt #3 enter "from:/SpectateSwamp" The "/" is the field seperator and
can be changed in the control.txt file up to 6 elements can be listed here.
and you are off searching
you can display a previous match by entering "p"
enter "b" to back up one screen and display again
enter "a" to continue complete display from the latest match.
This is probably the best place to replay to search questions for now.

Brilliant media player
This can do it all - video, music and image playback! I just wish it had some sort of search functionality built in. Maybe next version?

Mostly JackAsses from Channel9
This search is far better than anything the others have to offer.
I have repeatedly challenged them on channel9.msdn.com forums
for a showdown. They just have a few loudmouth geeks that have
never written a complete application trying to put this application
down. I will be doing some demos it's capabilities.
Why don't they want a showdown

Source Code review
The author makes the source for this program available too, I wanted to gouge my eyes out.

DO NOT INSTALL
Worst application on the face of the earth. Beware, as it may cause Windows to crash and you will have to reformat your computer.

what the .... was that????
what? ? ? !!! what was that? it quickly did.... nothing i can see.
i dont understand what it was or what it did. or how to use it.
i didnt see how to make it search for anything. i think it might be broken.
it was more cryptic than looking at dos or unix without knowing any commands
im wondering, did i just run a hacker's access control on my machine?
what was that ? ...there's no documentation to be found. anywhere.
& no mention of this anywhere else on the net. ...have I been had?
