PopNot is an intelligent pop-up killer that works in conjunction with Internet Explorer version 5 or newer to prevent unwanted pop-up (and pop-under) windows from appearing as you surf the web, with no need to set up for particular websites or keywords. PopNot prevents pop-up windows from ever appearing -- there's no need to wait while a new pop-up window appears and disappears; even more importantly, it won't incorrectly close new browser windows or interfere with web navigation. It's also the only pop-up killer that we know of that can pass all of our tests (available at http://www.hdsoft.com/popnot/test.htm) for stopping unsolicited pop-ups and permitting solicited pop-ups (those "requested" by clicking on a link, pressing a button, etc.).
Useful unsolicited pop-up windows can be allowed for particular websites by just right-clicking on the page and selecting "Allow Site's Pop-ups" or using the built-in rules editor, and PopNot can optionally display a visual and/or audio alert when it prevents a pop-up window from appearing, while also maintaining a log of those pop-up windows. Additionally, PopNot can prevent browser windows from becoming intractable by such options as disallowing full screen mode and forcing the display of the status bar. And, using hotkey commands, browser windows can even be closed or "normalized" with a single click.
PopNot can also kill non-browser windows with its advanced general window killer using the "general window" rules editor and hotkeys that make it possible to close any window with a single click.
