Excellent, but missing one important feature
This is an excellent tool; simple and effective. However, for those who want to use this tool (e.g. to view large log files), displaying line number is an essential function, so much so that, without this function, the value of this tool is significantly compromised.

Works as advertised for 11GB XML file
The file took about 5 minutes to unzip, but less than 1 second to open in this file viewer.
Of course, it takes about 5 minutes to load the whole thing (it''s still loading as I write this), but of the text that HAS loaded you can search through it just fine.
Obviously, text that hasn't loaded yet cannot be searched. You can see in the program''s status bar where it is in the loading process.

good, can do some better
The application seems to do very well what it's designed for (that is, viewing and not editing). Here are some hints to improve it: when the user tries to do a search and the file is not fully loaded yet, warn about that instead of going back to the first match of the text to search; don't close the application when the user (possibly by mistake) presses the ESC key; remove some skulls from the background ;-)

fantastic
Opened a 6.3 gigabyte file with 141 million lines. Nothing else I tried would open the file. The file opened immediately then took a few minutes to load all the lines. The peak memory usage was 79 meg. I plan to use it for viewing large data and log files. Aboslutely fantastic and it was free.

Great Tool~
This is a great tool, really helped me to open a big file.
The only thing is that it doesn''t support UNICODE
The reason for slow search speed as mentioned below, is due to the large file size. If you observe the line counts, it jumps for about 10,000 lines per second, that''s not too bad.
I guess there isn''t any instant tool for everything.

Very Good, Large, Free File Opener.
This is a real good file opener which opens large text files. I always use to split the large file, until someone told me that even editor are available to open such large (>1 GB) files. Very Impressed and it saved me a lot of time. thanks to developer for sharing this free tool. Bless you.

Incredibly fast tool
I cannot believe how fast this tool can be.
1.2GB file (16.8 million lines) opened in less than a second. I thought I was dreaming :)
Not to mention the split screen search function, hyperlink detection, background customisation, etc.
I have been looking for a long time for something like this, but it exceeed my expectations.

opened 5.75 gigabyte file
Required no software install. Executable runs directly from unzipped folder. My AV client (Symantec) passed it as clean... no virus or spyware. Took it about three or four minutes to open a 5.75 gigabyte text file with over 2.9 million lines. I did not need to edit the file, just needed to verify some records in it before uploading it to the mainframe. Works well enough for me!
